MOORHEAD — Two runners with collegiate ties to the state of South Dakota ventured north with different agendas Friday night in the Mark Knutson Friday Night 5K. In the case of South Dakota State freshman Keaton Olson, it was a chance to rekindle that winning feeling.

The former Kindred standout, who redshirted at South Dakota State this season, blew away the field in the final mile to claim the men’s division. In the case of women’s division winner Alana Sesow of Lincoln, Neb., a former runner at Augustana University, the 5K was something to do while traveling to Fargo to watch her sister run her first marathon in Saturday’s Essentia Health Fargo Marathon.
