DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) -- Police in Durham said Friday night that fireworks were set off outside The Streets at Southpoint mall -- and there was no shooting.
The incident was reported just after 8:40 p.m. at 6910 Fayetteville Road, The Streets at Southpoint mall, according to a Durham Police Department news release.
"A caller reported that three people were outside shooting and that the caller and other individuals were hiding in a store bathroom," the news release said.
Other Durham police arrived at the scene within minutes and "reported everything appeared normal," officers said in the release.
There were no victims found at the scene.
"Upon further investigation, it was determined that this was caused by individuals setting off fireworks outside the mall," the news release said.
