COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - June and July in College Station are known to be slower months because college students return home for the summer, so there aren’t as many people in town. In response, the city is hoping other events will bring in tens of thousands of visitors.

Texas A&M University brings in more than 70,000 students to College Station. During the summer months, that number drops to around 20,000 to 25,000 students, losing more than 50,000 people who help boost our local economy.

However, the city said the drop in population during the summer months doesn’t do as much damage as you would think.

College Station Mayor John Nichols told KBTX the city plans and budgets for the summer months each year, just as they do for Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks.
