Coronado resident John Pottridge faced death as he lived life: with courage, wisdom, curiosity, humor, and selfless concern for others. John was a Vietnam veteran and a great patriot who cared deeply for our country. He suffered from cancer as a result of being exposed to Agent Orange and became an ardent advocate for veterans. John also spoke up against threats to our democracy, both locally and nationally.
A man for all seasons, John was a roller skating champion, expert surfer, equestrian on the Grand Prix circuit, and actor at the Old Globe Theater. He was an ocean sailor, a dedicated gardener, a fantastic cook, a beach freak, a leader of a jazz trio, a haiku poet, a songwriter, and a steadfast pal to Lily the Seagull and Scout the Mouse.
