ATLANTA — Family, friends and fans will come together this morning to celebrate the life of NBA great and humanitarian Dikembe Mutombo.
The free public memorial begins at 10:30 a.m. at McCamish Pavilion on the Georgia Tech campus, where Mutombo’s impact on and off the court will be remembered.
Mutombo, who passed away on September 30, 2024, at age 58 after a battle with brain cancer, is being honored not just for his Hall of Fame basketball career but for his lasting legacy of service.

Mutombo played 18 seasons in the NBA, spending five of those with the Atlanta Hawks, and became one of the most popular players in team history. He was an eight-time All-Star, a four-time Defensive Player of the Year, and
