OXFORD, Miss. (WLBT) - The Ole Miss Rebels’ comeback effort falls short against Murray State in its first regional game, losing 9-6.
It was a tough start for Ole Miss in this one, with Murray State’s leadoff hitter taking the first pitch of the game out of the park. The Racers would bring in four runs in the first two innings.
The Rebels found momentum in the 3rd and 4th innings, though, registering five runs to take the lead.
Ole Miss would find another run in the 7th to tie this one at six a piece, but three big runs in the 8th and 9th innings would be enough to get the Racers the win.
The Rebels now look to a matchup against Western Kentucky on Saturday at 1 p.m.
