PERHAM, Minn. — Carmen Arvig has lived in Minnesota’s Lakes Region for most of her life, but the home she and her husband Allen built 20 years ago on Little Pine Lake, just north of Perham, is inspired by their worldly travels.

“My husband and I have done an extensive amount of traveling. An awful lot to Europe. We've been to all the continents, but not Africa, but we particularly liked Italy,” she said recently, while giving a tour of her villa.
