Marked as one of the greatest games in football history, Joe "Willie" Namath brought the New York Jets to their first, and only, Super Bowl win on Jan. 12, 1969. To this day, Broadway Joe is considered the best Jets quarterback–but he would've chosen baseball over football had he not promised his mother that he would get a college degree. Born on May 31, 1943. in Beaver Falls, Penn., Namath played basketball, baseball, and football as a youngster. He drew the attention of various colleges and teams from across baseball (including the New York Yankees), the National Football League, and the American Football League.
