To this day, Broadway Joe is considered the best Jets quarterback–but he would've chosen baseball over football had he not promised his mother that he would get a college degree. Born on May 31, 1943. in Beaver Falls, Penn., Namath played basketball, baseball, and football as a youngster. He drew the attention of various colleges and teams from across baseball (including the New York Yankees), the National Football League, and the American Football League.
