Donald Trump and Elon Musk have a "complicated" relationship characterized by at least one recent instance of lack of communication, according to a new report.
The conservative Wall Street Journal late Friday evening published a report entitled "Inside Trump and Musk’s Complicated Relationship" in which the outlet describes how "the president and his aides have sometimes expressed frustration with Musk, but his advisers say the two remain close."
Buried in that report is a detail about Musk leaving Trump in the dark very recently.

According to the report, it involved Musk's timing for leaving his White House perch to return to his many businesses.
"Trump learned about the timing of Musk’s departure in the same manner that the president himself has often used to share significant personnel news: via a social-media post," the report states. "The president knew that Musk would be leaving soon, but not the exact timing until the post was sent, according to people familiar with Musk’s off-boarding."
The report goes on to describe points of tension between the two, including a "blowup" between Musk and the White House.
"The most recent blowup between Musk and the White House occurred 7,000 miles away from Washington. Musk became so incensed by a deal led by his rival Sam Altman of OpenAI—and its planned rollout on a presidential trip—that he complained to at least three White House officials, leading them to get Trump involved," the report states.
The WSJ report comes just after Trump said, "I don't like being surprised," in reference to Russian leader Putin and his ongoing war against Ukraine.
