DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) -- Police in Durham said they are evacuating The Streets at Southpoint mall after suspicious packages prompted a bomb squad response Saturday afternoon.

The incident began just before 2:30 p.m. when Durham Police responded to a call of suspicious packages inside Nordstrom at the mall at 6910 Fayetteville Road, according to a Durham Police Department news release.

Nordstrom was evacuated and police called in the Durham County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad to investigate the matter.

Officers at the mall told a CBS 17 crew at 5:35 p.m. that they would be evacuating the mall.
