HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) has joined the National Public Radio (NPR) in the legal battle against President Trump over his executive order to end federal funding for public media.

In the lawsuit, PBS alleges the order violates the First Amendment of the Constitution and asks that a U.S. District Court block the White House from enforcing the defunding.

NPR filed a similar lawsuit on Tuesday.

President Trump has repeatedly blasted public media for “perceived political bias,” arguing that PBS and NPR are unfair to conservatives.

PBS and NPR have denied those claims.

Both lawsuits come days after a Capitol Hill hearing that took place on Monday.
