HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — President Donald Trump is withdrawing his nomination of billionaire entrepreneur Jared Isaacman to lead NASA, multiple sources confirmed Saturday, just days before the Senate was scheduled to vote on his confirmation.

Semafor first reported the withdrawal, citing three people familiar with the matter. The administration later confirmed the decision to pull Isaacman's nomination when the Senate returns from Memorial Day recess next week.

In a statement, the White House said it was "essential that the next leader of NASA is in complete alignment with President Trump's America First agenda." It did not elaborate.
