WASHINGTON — As the District plays host at WorldPride this week, the city is leaning into its reputation as a leader in LGBTQ+ rights and inclusion — even amid political uncertainty, logistical obstacles and heightened security concerns.
On Saturday, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser held a special reception to kick off the celebration and show support for the LGBTQ+ community. The event, held during a weekend of parades, parties, and cultural programming, comes at a time when advocates say visibility and unity are more important than ever.
