Kamyla Gastelum Sevilla made history twice over when she walked across the graduation stage last month.

Not only was she the first person in her family to graduate from high school, but she was also the first to earn a college degree. Remarkably, she accomplished both milestones simultaneously.

The standout graduate from Mater Academy East high school will enter Nevada State University as a junior this fall having completed a debt-free associate degree while in high school through a dual credit partnership with Western Nevada College.
