A man has died and a young boy has been injured after a suspected shooting at a shopping centre.
The bomb squad and emergency services were alerted after reports of a man with a suspicious item strapped to his body in Carlow, Ireland.
The incident unfolded in a Tesco at the Fairgreen shopping centre at about 6.15pm today.
Details of the suspected shooting are yet to be confirmed, but it is believed a man fired shots in the supermarket.
He was fatally injured and died after what is believed to be self-inflicted gunshot wounds. A young boy was injured and he was treated at the scene by paramedics before going home with his family, according to the broadcaster.
