BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - “Today is awesome. Really good vibes today, a lot better than last year and everybody is really pumped up and having a great time here,” said race organizer, Dave McIntyre.

Hundreds ran in the Great Bangor Marathon and Half.

“We thought it was challenging and at the halfway mark I really wanted to give up, I’ll be honest with you, but I had a good pacer with me, and she and I ran together and finished,” said Irene Madrigal, coming from Bangor to run the half.

Many were a fan of the rainy conditions.

“It keeps it cool. It keeps the sun from beating down on you. Kind of saves you from getting too dehydrated,” explained Andy Nack, coming from Tennessee taking third place in the marathon
