PAGELAND, S.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A young girl is in the hospital after a shooting erupted in Pageland Sunday night.

Police were called to the scene on Brewer Circle around 1:17 a.m. for reports of a drive-by shooting.

When officers arrived, they found a 7-year-old girl with a gunshot wound. She was airlifted to the hospital and is in critical condition.

No suspects are in custody at this time.

"The 7-year-old did not deserve this careless act of violence. We are praying for the child and the family," officials said.

SLED is on the scene assisting in the investigation.
