1. Butte Creek Fire, Oregon's first big blaze of 2025 season, grows to 2,000 acres

The first big fire of the 2025 fire season has popped up in central Oregon.

Fire officials say the Butte Creek Fire made a 1,500-acre run overnight and is now at approximately 2,000 acres.

"Overnight, it did make a 1500-acre-plus run due to a storm system that came through that settled out this morning, and there was low fire behavior and activity. But, we've heard that that fire activity has increased with the warming weather through the day and some increased winds," said Emily Curtis, public affairs officer for Central Oregon Fire Management Services.
