LAUREL, Md. — Local kids got the chance to take the field with a member of the Washington Commanders during a football camp this afternoon. Mike Sainristil took a break from his NFL duties to give back to youth who have the same dreams he had.

The camp, put on by Legendary Sports Xperiences , is made up of boys and girls from first through eighth grade at Laurel High School.

“The youth, they deserve these figures like myself, other people, those role models," said Sainristil, the second-year Commanders defensive back. “I think it just keeps that hope alive. Being able to come back and share to them that, look, I once was your age with the dreams of being where I am right now. This is what I did to get there. This is what I think you could do.
