HOUSTON — A grieving mother is demanding answers after her 2-year-old daughter was killed in a hit-and-run crash outside their west Houston apartment.

It happened around 5:45 p.m. last Wednesday at an apartment complex in the 3400 block of Ocee Street, according to Houston police.

Allana Gray told KHOU 11 that she was on her way back from the grocery store when she got the call that her daughter, Egypt, had been hit.

“She was a star. She was full of life, light … everything,” Gray said.

According to Gray, Egypt was outside the family's apartment with her 4-year-old brother and a family cat. When their father briefly stepped inside to grab his phone, tragedy struck.
