SEATTLE — Just over a month after a deadly incident at Vancouver’s Lapu-Lapu Day Festival , the Kalahi Philippine Folk Dance group returned to the stage over the weekend at Seattle Center for the annual Pagdiriwang Philippine Festival.

The Vancouver event turned tragic when a car drove through the crowd, killing 11 people, ranging in age from five to 65, and injuring many others. A suspect is in custody and facing second-degree murder charges.

“Something like that you can’t forget," said Bennyroyce Royon, one of Kalahi’s choreographers, who was present at the scene of the attack. "You know it’s hard to go through the scenarios again, but I think the important thing is how do we move forward with healing and with joy."
