CHAMPION TWP., Ohio - The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fiery, head-on crash in Champion Township that injured three people.

Firefighters from Champion, Bristol, Bazetta, and Howland Townships responded just after 6:30 p.m. Saturday to what was reported as a collision with entrapment on Mahoning Avenue, south of Route 305.

Champion Township police and bystanders assisted in rescuing the occupants from the burning SUV and car.

Three people were taken to local hospitals for treatment of injuries described as not life-threatening.
