SOUTH CHARLESTON — The Weir softball team’s magical season came to a heartbreaking end.
Weir scored a run in the top of the seventh inning to tie the score at 3, however, Frankfort tallied a run in the home half of the inning giving the Falcons a 4-3 victory in a West Virginia Class AAA elimination game Saturday morning at The Rock Field A inside Little Creek Park.
“I am very proud of everything these kids accomplished,” Weir (29-10) head coach John Leary said. “We were a little snakebit throughout the entire season.
“In my estimation, we blew the OVACs. We were the No. 1 seed, and we lost to Harrison Central in the first round after we had beaten them twice in the regular season. I think the biggest thing was in the second half of the season, we just did not hit the ball the way we did
