The Department for Work and Pensions has issued a scam warning for people posing as it.

In a message posted on social media, the DWP urged people across the UK to "be aware" of text messages purporting to be from them. The department, which administers pensions, welfare, and child maintenance among other things, said that people should take care over links and not share their details, the Liverpool ECHO reports .

The message, posted to the DWP's X account, read: "Be aware of scam text messages claiming to be from @dwpgovuk. Always be careful about links and never share personal or financial details.
