The big story: Florida has another round of new education laws, with Gov. Ron DeSantis signing several measures Friday including two wide-ranging train bills ( HB 1105 , HB 1255 ) that lawmakers debated into the waning hours of their regular session.

Several of the changes will impact high school students. Among them, the Legislature established a study into banning student cellphone use at high schools, eliminated the certificate of completion option for high school students, set Classic Learning Test score standards for state university admission, and allowed marching band as a substitute for the physical education high school graduation requirement.
