LEE’S SUMMIT, MO. (KCTV) - A Lee’s Summit police officer is fighting for their life after being shot multiple times late Sunday.

It happened in the 3500 block of SE Hollywood Drive at the Residences of Echelon.

At approximately 11:00 p.m., June 1, officers were called to the area on reports of a domestic disturbance at the apartment complex.

As the first officer arrived, they saw a man running from the complex parking lot.

The officer chased him on foot and quickly radioed that shots had been fired.

No shots were fired by the officer; the officer was struck multiple times.

Investigators are working with area law enforcement partners to track the suspect; his identity is known.
