A woman is facing an attempted murder charge after she shot her father during a child custody exchange outside of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office’s headquarters on Sunday, officials said.

The incident occurred about 9 a.m. at the sheriff’s administration building at 10750 Ulmerton Road.

Gabriella Nascimento, 28, was arrested after the shooting while her father, Rogerio Nascimento, was taken to a hospital in critical but stable condition, officials said.

The incident began when Rogerio Nascimento, who is from Valrico, and his estranged wife arrived at the sheriff’s office for the custody exchange. Rogerio Nascimento was accompanied by his sister; his estranged wife had their four children, all minors, with her, along with a friend, officials said.
