Police are investigating a homicide after a man was shot during an argument at a home in the Key Coalition neighborhood of Kansas City, a police spokesman said.

Officers responded about 8:30 p.m. to a shooting in the 2900 block of Wabash Avenue , said Sgt. Phil DiMartino with the Kansas City Police Department.

Upon arrival, officers were directed to a home where they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds, DiMartino said. An emergency medical crew took the man to a hospital, where he died shortly thereafter.

A preliminary investigation revealed that there was an altercation involving multiple people outside of a home, DiMartino said. Shots were fired, striking the victim.
