A man is in stable condition at a hospital after being shot by police early Monday in Kansas City, Kansas, a police spokeswoman said.

Officers responded about 3:30 a.m. to investigate a reported domestic disturbance in the 200 block of North 78th Street in Kansas City, Kansas , said Nancy Chartrand with the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

Officers then were “involved in a shooting” with the man, Chartrand said. The man was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries. No officers were injured.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation will investigate the police shooting, which follows the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department’s protocol.
