CHICAGO — A man shot by Chicago police on the Northwest Side is facing multiple charges.

Carlos Sanchez-Roa, 28, of Hammond, was shot by police Saturday at around 2:10 a.m. in the 3100 block of North Central Avenue.

CPD was called to the scene of a battery in progress and shots fired at a business in the same block moments prior.

Officers were directed to a red pick-up truck by an employee of the business.

Sanchez-Roa allegedly refused and accelerated in the direction of the officers, hitting one of them.

Police then opened fire on the vehicle, but Sanchez-Roa allegedly kept driving.

He was found shot outside of his vehicle in the 3200 block of North Menard Avenue.

Sanchez-Roa was transported by the Chicago Fire Department in critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds.
