When two rock legends run into each other in the streets of New York, you know it’s not your average encounter.

Paul McCartney and Steven Tyler had just such a chance encounter outside the Surrey Hotel on the Upper East Side this past weekend, and it wasn’t part of any prearranged meeting — it happened purely by coincidence.

TMZ obtained footage of the remarkable moment when McCartney, 82, and his entourage were walking toward the entrance of the hotel when the Beatles icon spotted Tyler, 77, standing nearby. McCartney made his way over to greet the Aerosmith frontman and according to the outlet, shared a brief conversation while standing on a shadowy corner of the bustling city street. After a short chat, they parted ways, and McCartney entered the hotel.
