Nebraska has its new rugby-style punter, a program official confirmed Monday.

Archie Wilson, an 18-year-old from Australia, joined the Huskers after an official visit over the weekend. Wilson comes to NU through Prokick Australia, a training program that develops Australians into punters for college teams.

Wilson had previously played Aussie Rules football in his home country. In 2024, the 6-foot-1, 183-pounder played for the Old Carey U19 Mens AFL team, scoring 12 goals in 11 games, according to team stats.

New special teams coordinator Mike Ekeler recruited an Australian rugby punter to his former stop, Tennessee, with great success. The Volunteers have allowed just 148 punt return yards over the last three seasons; NU has allowed 576.
