WASHINGTON — Crime is continuing to go down in the District. D.C. Police statistics show that all violent crime and most property crime is down.
Now a year and a half after D.C. recorded the largest crime spike in the country, the city's year-to-date crime numbers are significantly below not just 2023's jump, but also pre-pandemic levels.
Sex abuse crimes took the biggest dip of the violent crime categories, plummeting 49%. D.C. Police report they saw 40 cases of sex abuse crimes through June 1 of 2025, compared with 78 cases at this time in 2024.
The next largest drop is in robberies. There have been 642 robberies so far in 2025 — marking a 22% decrease from the 827 reported by now in 2024.
