BRANDON, Fla. (WFLA)— A man has been charged with second-degree murder after a shooting killed a man in Brandon, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office announced.

Deputies responded to a shooting on Sunday around 7:05 p.m. on the 700 block of Providence Trace Circle.

According to HCSO, the suspect, Delfeayo McCoy, 32, and the victim, Darien Lamont Henry, 25, began arguing in the breezeway of the apartment building.

During the argument, McCoy shot the victim and fled the scene.

Henry was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

During an investigation, detectives learned that a verbal altercation occurred between the two. During the argument, McCoy retrieved a firearm and shot Henry in the upper body.
