GREENVILLE, Fla. (WCTV) - A Madison County deputy’s use of force was deemed justified after being placed on administrative leave for shooting an “armed man” in Greenville in April, according to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.

It was determined that the deputy’s actions, which the sheriff’s office identified as Deputy Terry in a press release Monday, were “entirely justified under the circumstances with which he was presented and applicable Florida law concerning the use of deadly force.”

The deputy’s first name was not written in the press release.

The justification comes after the deputy shot 23-year-old Rodderick Maurice Johnson Jr., after a “block party” on April 27 during the overnight hours, according to MCSO. Deputies said as gunshots began to ring out, they saw Johnson Jr.
