EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s deputies say a traffic stop led to them chasing down an armed felon before arresting him.

According to a release, 39-year-old Cameron Banks was the passenger in a car that was pulled over at the corner of South Governor Street and Bellemeade Avenue on Saturday.

Deputies say Banks took off on foot during the stop, and a deputy saw Banks throw away a handgun.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Banks tripped and fell before getting up and running again, and a deputy attempted to stop him with a taser, but it didn’t work.

Banks was eventually arrested and taken to the Vanderburgh County Jail.

A K9 was able to find the gun, and deputies say they found meth and glass pipe in Banks’ property.
