CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, Mo. (KFVS) - Vandalism at a popular tourist location in the Heartland is under investigation.
According to organizers with the St. Louis Iron Mountain & Southern Railway in Jackson, Missouri, volunteers discovered vandalism at the site’s western Village, “Iron Mountain Junction,” on Saturday, May 31.
In a Facebook post, they said every structure in the ghost town has some level of damage and they will have to replace more than 15 windows, doors, chairs and more.
Photos posted show several broken windows, furniture and a door.
The Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s Office confirms they are investigating the vandalism and detectives have identified some suspects.
