WAYNE COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS) — A plane taking off from Huntington Tri-State Airport on Monday had to return shortly after for an emergency landing due to an engine failure, officials said.

An Allegiant plane that left the airport at 2:15 p.m. for St. Petersburg, Florida, made an emergency landing back at the airport about 15 minutes later after the plane’s left engine failed, airport director Brent Brown said.

Brown said about 140 people were on board at the time. No injuries were reported.

The flight to Florida has been delayed until at least 6 p.m. when a new plan is expected to arrive.
