INDIANAPOLIS — A firefighter was injured while battling a blaze on the near west side of Indianapolis Monday afternoon.

In a Facebook post, IFD confirmed that one of its firefighters sustained a heat-related injury while trying to extinguish a fast-moving fire that was impacting an occupied structure in the 1100 block of North Warman Avenue.

Per IFD, crews were first called to the structure around 1:29 p.m. because dispatchers had received numerous reports that indicated heavy smoke had been spotted in the area.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, they rapidly attacked the blaze. IFD reported that its crews brought the fire under control in 20 minutes.
