President Donald Trump has long demonstrated a willingness to flex his pardon power for friends, allies and celebrities in sticky legal situations.

Last week, he granted clemency to several people, including a rapper known as NBA YoungBoy and reality stars Todd and Julie Chrisley. And on Friday, as Sean “Diddy” Combs sat in a New York courthouse for his federal racketeering and sex-trafficking trial, Trump said he would consider a pardon for the music mogul who was once a friend and peer in their early years as wealthy businessmen and reality TV juggernauts.
