BOISE, Idaho — A popular parking area providing free access to Bernardine Quinn Riverside Park and the Boise River Greenbelt will close in mid-June as the College of Western Idaho begins construction on its new Boise campus.
Boise announced on Monday that its lease agreement with CWI for the shared parking lot adjacent to the riverside park will expire as the college proceeds with development plans for the site.
"Thank you to CWI for allowing the community free parking and access to parks and the Greenbelt for so many years at this location," the city said in a statement.
The closure will eliminate a convenient parking option for visitors to the popular greenbelt system. However, city officials emphasized that the walking and biking trail itself will remain open in the area.
