SEATTLE Wash. (KPTV) - The Seattle Mariners will retire baseball hall-of-famer Randy Johnson’s number 51 during the 2026 season, the team announced Monday.
The announcement comes on the the 35th anniversary of Johnson’s no-hitter against the Detroit Tigers in 1990, the first in franchise history.
Johnson was acquired by the team from the Montreal Expos in 1989, and was a five-time All-Star during his tenure in Seattle. He won the Cy Young Award in 1995, helping lead the Mariners to their first playoff berth in franchise history.
