ALBANY, N.Y. (WTEN) -- New York Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado announced on Monday he is running for governor as a Democratic challenger to current New York Governor Kathy Hochul. In February, Delgado announced he would not be seeking reelection to the position of lieutenant governor on the same ticket as Hochul for 2026.

"New York, I’m not here to play the game. I’m here to change it. I’m running to be your next Governor," said Delgado on the social media platform X.

In March, Delgado said on Empire State Weekly he would not be ruling out a run for governor. He had previously said "all options are on the table."

Before serving as Lieutenant Governor, Delgado served in congress representing New York District 19. He has served at Lieutenant Governor since 2022.
