Shenandoah County Fire Chief Tim Williams will retire Oct. 1, concluding a five-decade career in fire and rescue.
Williams has served as chief since 2016, following 11 years as deputy chief of operations. Before joining Shenandoah County in 2005, he spent 25 years with Fairfax County Fire and Rescue, retiring as a captain. His fire service career began in 1975 as a volunteer with the Strasburg Volunteer Fire Department.
“Well, there’s a number of things that lined up,” Williams said. “That gives me 20 years here in Shenandoah County. Before Shenandoah County, I worked with Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department for 25 years.
