A Detroit man who previously rejected a plea deal for his alleged role in a Dodge Durango-theft ring agreed to what could be a better deal.

Barron Hatcher Jr., 24, recently entered a no-contest plea to operation a criminal enterprise in Macomb County Circuit Court for his connection to the theft of four Dodge Durangos from Galeana’s Van Dyke Dodge/Ram on Van Dyke in Warren and dealerships in Troy, Highland Township and Grand Blanc. The ring was suspected of stealing some 25 Durango SUVs from last June to last November.

In exchange for his May 21 plea, Macomb prosecutors agreed to a dismissal of a burglary-tools-possession charge and a four-to-20 year sentence, which is below his sentencing guideline range but could require him to serve the full term for the racketeering charge if he fail
