CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. — A woman was seriously hurt and a man was found dead after a domestic dispute led to a SWAT standoff Sunday afternoon in Cherokee County, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies responded to a home on Still Lake Drive in Acworth after a report of a domestic dispute. When they arrived, they found a woman in the cul-de-sac with multiple stab wounds. She was conscious and taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with serious injuries.

Deputies quickly set up a perimeter and called in hostage negotiators and the SWAT Team.

For several hours, officers tried to make contact with the man inside the home using a loudspeaker. When those efforts failed, SWAT deployed chemical munitions into the house.
