HOUSTON (KIAH) — A player who signed with the Houston Texans this offseason has decided to retire from the NFL.
Ronald Darby, who played defensive back for 11 seasons, was placed on the reserve/retired list by the Texans on Monday. He participated in a couple of workouts during the offseason training camp in Houston.
Darby signed a one-year deal with Houston back in March after playing one season with the Jacksonville Jaguars, starting in 12 games.
The deal was to bring Darby in to be the backup behind Texans’ All-Pro defensive back Derek Stingley Jr., but Darby’s retirement means that Houston will have to find another cornerback with experience.
Darby played in 118 games over his 11 seasons and had eight interceptions and 447 tackles in his career.
