OAKLAND, Calif. (KRON) -- A Castlemont High School teacher saved his girlfriend's life "in a final act of love and selflessness," his family wrote. Marvin Boomer, a beloved and inspirational math teacher, pushed his girlfriend out of the direct path of a car that slammed into Boomer on a sidewalk, according to a home surveillance video reviewed by KRON4 and a statement from his family.

Boomer was killed, and his girlfriend suffered serious injuries. The couple had been out on an evening stroll May 28 when a stolen car zoomed through an Oakland neighborhood and crashed into them, investigators said.
