Among the long list of names on the various tee sheets at the 13 locations for the 36-hole final qualifying for the 2025 U.S. Open were 25 LIV golfers.
At eight of those 13 sites, there were no players from LIV. Meanwhile, the qualifier on June 2 in Maryland, which is close to this week's LIV event in Virginia, had the most. Originally set for 13 LIV golfers, by the time the qualifier started, six of them had withdrawn, leaving seven LIV golfers in the field of 71 fighting it out for one of four spots there.
How did all the LIV golfers do in final qualifying for the 2025 U.S. Open?
As it turns out, of the 25 who initially entered final qualifying, just two got through.
Marc Leishman and Carlos Ortiz were the only qualifiers from LIV to play their way into the U.S. Open. Ortiz did so on May 19, Leishman on June 2. Three of their LIV cohorts are listed as alternates.
Graeme McDowell had his final qualifier suspended by rain on Monday but he was three shots off the projected cut. When play finished Tuesday morning, he ended up five shots out.
