Food trucks will soon be allowed to operate for late night service in Boston, part of a new program launched by the city on Monday.

The Late Night Food Truck Program will operate under the city’s Office of Nightlife Economy, Mayor Michelle Wu’s office announced . As part of the plan, participating food trucks will be allowed to operate at seven designated sites around the city — located near hospitals, universities, music venues, and nightlife districts — to provide late night service through the summer. The program’s season will end in the fall.

Similar to the city’s existing food truck program, operators will participate in an online lottery to select their sites according to the city.
